Campaign to Make Drugs Legal Police Brunstrom Comments

It seems that even the police are thinking that the current UK drugs laws are out of date. Police chief constable Richard Brunstrom wants to see the removal of the class A, B and C system and is currently campaigning to make drugs legal.

The Misuse of Drugs Act goes back to 1971 and Brunstrom wants to see it replaced by the newer “Substance Misuse Act”.

Politicians don’t all share Brunstrom’s opinion and this will spark another debate on the legal system and use of drugs in the UK.

What do you think? Should the class system of drugs be removed?

for god’s sake - yes. of course drugs should be legalised. over half of all crime in this country is drugs related. drug addicts cannot get the help they need because they are already criminals and don’t want to get banged up. they also have to buy their drugs from criminals so they are permanently vulnerable to violence.

and then there are recreational drug users. the police waste their time on these harmless people simply because what they are doing is listed as a criminal offense. that time could be spend tracking down murderers and paedophiles.

this country needs to wake up and realise that prohibition does not work. the billions of pounds that get wasted every year on trying to prevent drug use could go towards trying to help people with serious addictions and catching serious criminals.
